Fan error when booting - ThinkPad 11e, ThinkPad Yoga 11e



Symptom

When powering on a ThinkPad 11e or ThinkPad Yoga 11e system, the user may receive a fan error on boot.

Affected Brands

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkPad

Affected Systems (machine types, model types):

  • ThinkPad 11e (Type 20E6, 20E8, 20ED, 20EE)
  • ThinkPad Yoga 11e (Type 20E5, 20E7)

Operating Systems

  • All

Solution

Update the BIOS to version 1.10 (Type 20ED, 20EE) or version 1.56 (Type 20E6, 20E8, 20E5, 20E7).

Additional Information

If the error persists after updating the BIOS to the above versions or later, have the system serviced.
